In commemoration of the International Human Rights Day, MSU Law’s Iligan Extension Legal Aid Clinic – Sarimanok Virtual Law Clinic (IELAC-SVLC), in coordination with the LGU of Kauswagan and Mayor Rommel C. Arnado, conducted a legal outreach program to the residents of Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte, on December 10, 2021, at the Kauswagan Central Elementary School Gymnasium. They offered free legal consultation, notary, and affidavit services.

The legal outreach was conducted by the Law Student Practitioners (LSPs) and members of the IELAC-SVLC under the supervision of the MSU Law Dean, Atty. Annabelle B. Cañazares-Mindalano, and Assistant Dean of Iligan Campus and CLEP, Atty. Joanah B. Alinog-Disocor. The IELAC-SVLC team assisted the supervising lawyers in drafting and notarizing legal documents. They also catered legal queries on land titles, sales, properties, succession, correction of documents, and debts, among others, during the said event.

The IELAC-SVLC expresses its gratitude to the LGU of Kauswagan and Mayor Rommel C. Arnado for their invaluable support which has enabled the team to fulfill its mission and purpose of advancing legal literacy and bridging access to justice by providing free legal assistance to the marginalized sector in our society. The team is also looking forward to expanding its legal outreach programs in the course of time. Indeed, the adage “those who have less in life shall have more in law” transformed into a reality in this endeavor by the IELAC-SVLC.
